Starting Out on Cafe World

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

One of my biggest complaints about Facebook is that there seems to be a never ending list of distracting applications.  One day I am in charge of the Mafia, the next day I am a farmer, while all the while, spending the time that I have on this Earth with my computer.

It is kind of depressing actually.

Needless to say, I do it anyway.  It is nice to have something to do before bed, or when I am bored.  Hey, it beats doing some of those other bad things, right?

Well, I started playing Cafe World today on Facebook and I was sure stuck.  I mean, did I have to make a commitment to the game and sit there minutes on end, cooking up a pile of virtual dishes?  I liked the concept, but not the commitment.

A good friend of mine, Stacie Gardner, put things in perspective for me.  She had actually felt the same way I did, and she bought a Cafe World strategy guide that laid things out for her in plain English.

I bought one and it has sure helped a lot – I am happy that I can have my fun without wasting all my time trying to figure things out.  Definitely one of my smarter decisions for this year.

Short and Sexy

One of the things that I never understood is how some women fit into the clothes that they do.  Don’t get me wrong, I love some of those outfits, but I wonder if some of the women are just acrobats or something…

Take for example the woman I saw today.  The first thing that I noticed was her legs, but my eyes were drawn to her skirt – her micro mini skirt.

Now, I don’t think that I could ever figure out how she fit herself into that tiny thing, but let me just say, it was hot!

Okay, okay… I’ll stop.  But if you know or had experience wearing one of those things, let me know – I guess I want some insight as to how you get it on…

Loving Life

Friday, December 25th, 2009

It has been a wonderful couple of days spent visiting friends and family in the hometown where I grew up.  I don’t make it back very often, so any chance to get back is time well spent.

We spent Christmas eve at my parent’s house where we had a wonderful party.  Some of the guests that make it out every year there have come since I was a kid, so it is great to catch up with them each year.  We also get the opportunity to eat a lot of food, which is great.

We had Christmas dinner tonight over at a friend’s house, and instead of having turkey, we had cabbage rolls.  That was certainly different, but I love them anyway, so no complaints from me.

We will be heading home tomorrow, full of food and a vehicle full of gifts.  Yes, I sure did have fun this Christmas.  That is okay, right?

Warning: Kids Cause Insanity

Monday, December 21st, 2009

One of the things that I always thought I wanted was kids.  I mean, aren’t they the perfect excuse for you to play with your old toys?

Playing with toys aside, there is a lot more to having kids and being a parent than you realize before you have them.  I think that the biggest challenge for many parents is that you are no longer #1, and many people can’t handle that.

I think one of the big things that no one talks about is the fact that kids try your patience and your sanity.  Try getting asked the same question five million times, or having your child try to get your attention incessantly – it drives you nuts.

So, next time you are thinking about having kids, maybe you should go visit an asylum because that is exactly what your life will be when you have kids.  Just no padded walls or solitary confinement in sight.

Why Choose a Dragon?

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

darkdragon Some people are sure to ask me why I chose a dragon to represent my blog.  Well, for the number of years that I have played Dungeons and Dragons, I have learned that a dragon is not only wise, but something to be feared.

There is also a sense of awe when you are in the presence of a dragon, and I hope that by reading these posts, you gain something magical in your life too.

Needless to say, this is my blog – feel the roar and the heat of my breath.

For I am the dark dragon!
